Amanda Sauer is an artist and educator with a background in environmental research. She uses photography to explore time, memory, and perception in natural landscapes where environmental perils are visible.


Amanda has won several grants, awards, residencies and commissions, including a 2019 Artist Fellowship from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and has exhibited nationally in group shows including WPA Options Biennial and Flashpoint Gallery in DC. Her work is included in the DC ArtBank 2018 and 2019 collections.


Amanda has a MFA in Photography and Film from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BA in economics from Cornell University. She lives in Washington D.C. with her husband and three children.
